How does

Bio-Circle work?

Bioremediation
Bioremediation is a simple, natural process that is present in our lives everyday. It is nature's use of live microbes to "remove" undesirable compounds such as oil and grease from soil or surface water so that they will be returned to their clean and natural state. Microbes are single-celled micro-organisms found everywhere on the planet - in soil water, plants, animals, rocks, and even on humans.

These micro-organisms thrive and reproduce by "eating" oil and grease particles, thus converting complex organic molecules into harmless substances such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and water. This process is used to clean everything including oils spills and contaminated soil. If properly implemented, bioremediation can quickly destroy or immobilize environmental contaminants in such a way that is safe for human health and the environment.

Bio-Circle L Liquid
The heart of the Bio-Circle system is the Bio-Circle L liquid. It contains degreasers, which break the bond between contaminants (mineral oil) and the part being cleaned. The removed contaminants are then exposed to the micro-organisms also in the liquid, and are consumed. The by-products of this process are CO2 and water. The CO2 is released into the air, and the water is eliminated by evaporation.

Being living organisms, the microbes will grow in number as long as the contaminant (food) and nutrients are present. The micro-organisms are a mixed culture of risk-category 1( evaluation in accordance with BG Chemie: "Sichere Biotechnologie - Eingruppierung biologischer Agenzien: Bakterien, 08/98"). Bio-Circle L is free of pathogenic components and of substances subject to dangerous product regulations regarding classification and marking.

Bio-Circle L liquid will clean mineral and synthetic oils, cutting coolants, corrosion-protection compounds, light fats, fertilizers and phosphates. It will clean thin layers of grease, but is not intended to clean heavy accumulations of grease. Similarly, it is not a waste dump so oils etc should not be poured into it - this will overwhelm the microbes.

Because it is maintaining a live colony of micro-organisms, chemicals such as bleaches, disinfectants, household cleaners, solvents, strong alkaline cleaners must not be allowed in the system. These will kill the microbes.

Bio-Circle L is pH-neutral (pH 8.6), meaning it is kind to workers hands and will be safe and pleasant to use. It also has a pleasant, slightly soapy odour - not the noxious fumes of most solvents. Although it is water-based, it also contains corrosion inhibitors to protect the parts being cleaned.
